Ballot measure · November 3, 2026

What it does
QUESTION: Shall Arlington County contract a debt and issue its general obligation bonds in the maximum principal amount of $80,000,000 to finance, together with other available funds, the cost of various capital projects for Arlington Public Schools?
A YES vote means
Arlington County could borrow up to $80,000,000 by issuing bonds for Arlington Public Schools capital projects.
A NO vote means
Arlington County would not issue these $80,000,000 in bonds.
Needed to pass
A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
Left–right lean
Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).

The YES and NO lines are SpectrumVote's plain-language reading of the official text above; the official text is what you vote on.

Background

Arlington County says this is one of five bond referenda totaling $264 million on the November 3, 2026 ballot. The projects come from the county's FY 2027-FY 2036 Capital Improvement Program and Arlington Public Schools' CIP, adopted June 18, 2026.

According to the county, the $80,000,000 for Arlington Public Schools would cover a Jamestown Elementary School refresh ($29,000,000), an Oakridge Elementary School refresh ($31,000,000), and major building-systems infrastructure ($20,000,000).

The county says the School Board may reallocate the money among other projects in its Capital Improvement Plan.

Put on the ballot by Arlington County Board, as part of the FY 2027-FY 2036 Capital Improvement Program adopted June 18, 2026 (bond referendum resolution date and vote not stated on the county page).
