Ballot measure · November 3, 2026 · Southgate voters
Results: the official election results site. Counts are unofficial until certified.
- What it does
- Shall the Charter of the City of Southgate be amended to require competitive bidding (sealed proposals) for City purchases, public improvements, and contracts that are 0.1% or more of the City’s annual operating budget; require City Council to establish annual thresholds for City Council approval of purchases, public improvements, and contracts; and provide that these thresholds may be adjusted each year by City Council Resolution when the City budget is adopted?
- A YES vote means
- Southgate would require sealed competitive bids for purchases and contracts of 0.1% or more of its annual operating budget, and the Council would set yearly thresholds for its own approval, adjustable when the budget is adopted.
- A NO vote means
- Southgate's charter bidding and approval thresholds would not change.
- Needed to pass
- A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
- Left–right lean
- Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).
