Background
Property owners in the area fronting Lake Austin between Tom Miller Dam and 2940 Oestrick Lane petitioned to join Travis County Emergency Services District No. 9; the district's commissioners found the petition, signed by more than 50 qualified voters who own taxable property there, legally sufficient, according to Resolution No. 2026-06.
After a public hearing on July 22, 2026, the commissioners approved the annexation by separate resolution and called elections on it, according to the resolution.
Under Texas Health and Safety Code Section 775.051(e), the annexation becomes final only if approved by a majority of voters in an election within the district and by a majority in a separate election within the territory; the ballot also asks whether the territory would assume its share of the district's outstanding debts and taxes.
