Results: the official election results site. Counts are unofficial until certified.
- What it does
- Shall an Ordinance amending the City's Business License Tax Ordinance to restore and impose a business license tax on nonprofit organizations that do not serve a charitable purpose, and also to exempt charitable organizations from having to pay a business license tax, thereby indefinitely restoring approximately $700,000 general funds annually, be adopted?
- A YES vote means
- El Segundo would apply its business license tax to nonprofits that do not serve a charitable purpose and exempt charitable organizations, bringing in about $700,000 a year with no end date.
- A NO vote means
- El Segundo's business license tax rules for nonprofit and charitable organizations would not change.
- Needed to pass
- A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
- Left–right lean
- Unclear: our AI read of the official summary isn't confident enough (we require 70%) to place this on the left–right spectrum, so we don't. Read the summary and decide for yourself.
