Charter Township of Waterford — Renewal of Fire Operating Millage #2 (Oakland County)

Last updated Sat, Nov 7, 4:33 PM ET

Ballot measure · November 3, 2026 · Waterford Township voters

What it does
Shall the existing authorized Fire Operating Millage #2 originally approved by voters in 1986, be renewed at the current 0.8822 mills ($0.8822 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) upon taxable real property and personal property within the Township of Waterford for the period of ten (10) years, 2026 through 2035, thereby generating in the first year an estimated $2,994,579.65 to be used for the cost of staffing, maintenance and operation of the Fire Department for Waterford Residents only?
A YES vote means
Waterford Township would renew Fire Operating Millage #2 at 0.8822 mills for ten years, 2026 through 2035, raising about $2,994,579.65 the first year for the Fire Department.
A NO vote means
Waterford Township's Fire Operating Millage #2 would not be renewed.
What it would cost
0.8822 mills (estimated) for 10 years: $88.22 a year for every $100,000 of taxable value (a mill is $1 per $1,000). Taxable value is after exemptions such as homestead; your tax bill or property appraiser shows yours. It would continue a tax already in place rather than add a new one.
Needed to pass
A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
Left–right lean
Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).

The YES and NO lines are SpectrumVote's plain-language reading of the official text above; the official text is what you vote on.
