Village of Milford — Charter Amendment Proposal No. 1 (purchasing and contracting) (Oakland County)

Last updated Sat, Nov 7, 4:33 PM ET

Ballot measure · November 3, 2026 · Milford voters

What it does
Currently, the Village Charter requires contracts exceeding $2,000 to be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder through a competitive bidding process. Shall Section 11.2 be amended to remove the older fixed $2,000 threshold, authorize Village Council to establish purchasing and contracting limits by resolution, authorize the appointment of a Purchasing Agent, permit contracts to be awarded based on the bid determined to be most advantageous to the Village, and allow Village Council to authorize certain public improvements or Village work to be performed by Village personnel or departments when permitted by ordinance?
A YES vote means
Milford's charter would drop the fixed $2,000 competitive bidding threshold, let the Council set purchasing limits by resolution, allow a Purchasing Agent, allow awarding contracts to the bid most advantageous to the Village, and allow some work to be done by Village staff when permitted by ordinance.
A NO vote means
Contracts over $2,000 would still have to go to the lowest responsible bidder through competitive bidding.
Needed to pass
A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
Left–right lean
Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).

The YES and NO lines are SpectrumVote's plain-language reading of the official text above; the official text is what you vote on.
