Background

Proposition B is the largest of four bond propositions (B–E) that the district says were called based on recommendations from its Long-Range Planning Committee, a citizen advisory group of about 60 community members, parents and business leaders.

According to the district, Proposition B covers facility renovations involving HVAC, electrical and roofing systems, safety and security enhancements, technology and cybersecurity, and new school buses with three-point seat belts to replace buses more than 15 years old.

State law requires the phrase "THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE" on school bond ballots; the district says approval of Propositions B–E would not raise its debt service rate, which it projects will fall from $0.40 to $0.37 per $100.

ABC13 and Community Impact reported the Board called the bond election 6–1, with trustee Christine Kalmbach opposed.

Put on the ballot by Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Board of Trustees, 6–1 (Kalmbach opposed, as reported by ABC13), August 10, 2026.
