Background

Huffman ISD's VATRE page says the election asks voters whether the district may set its maintenance and operations tax rate above the level state law allows without an election, and that the money goes to day-to-day operations rather than construction.

According to the district, the total tax rate would be $1.0637 per $100 of valuation if the measure passes and $1.0337 if it fails.

The district lists preserving student programs, maintaining daily operations and reducing the budget deficit as the uses of the money, and says it conducted an efficiency audit.

Put on the ballot by Huffman ISD Board of Trustees; the election order and vote were not located online.
