Ballot measure · November 3, 2026 · Fowler voters

What it does
To fund general City services, such as local police, fire protection, emergency response, repair streets and roads, improve aging infrastructure, maintain parks and public facilities, and other general City services, shall the measure, establishing a one-half cent (½¢) transactions and use tax providing approximately $300,000.00 annually until ended by voters and public reporting consistent with State law as required, be adopted?
A YES vote means
Fowler would set a one-half cent (½¢) sales tax raising about $300,000.00 a year for general city services until ended by voters.
A NO vote means
Fowler would not set this one-half cent sales tax.
Needed to pass
A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
Left–right lean
Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).

The YES and NO lines are SpectrumVote's plain-language reading of the official text above; the official text is what you vote on.

Background

The Fowler City Council adopted Resolution No. 2854 at a special meeting on August 6, 2026 (Mejia, Gill, Kazarian and Parra voting yes), approving a half-cent transactions and use tax ordinance and submitting it to voters.

The resolution states that existing revenues are insufficient to address long-term infrastructure needs, and that the June 2027 expiration of Fresno County's Measure C transportation sales tax will eliminate a significant revenue source; it says Fowler received $4,489,761.03 in Measure C money from 2006 to 2025 for streets, ADA improvements and grant matches.

Under state law, the ordinance needed approval by two-thirds of the City Council and requires a majority of voters; the ballot question estimates about $300,000 a year for general city services until ended by voters.

Put on the ballot by Fowler City Council, August 6, 2026 (Resolution No. 2854).
