What it does
MEASURE TT: Shall the measure, which maintains the existing transient occupancy tax rates; authorizes the City Council to establish Major Event Periods, as defined, when the tax applies to lodging paid for or obtained by corporate entities for stays over 30 days, and to adjust the hotel and motel tax rate for such stays; clarifies that refunds require a natural person to complete at least thirty-one consecutive days of occupancy, and authorizes administrative regulations, be adopted?
A YES vote means
Santa Monica would keep its hotel tax rates, let the Council set Major Event Periods when the tax applies to corporate-paid stays over 30 days and adjust that rate, and require a person to stay at least thirty-one days in a row to get a refund.
A NO vote means
Santa Monica's hotel tax rules would not change in these ways.
Needed to pass
A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
Left–right lean
Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).

The YES and NO lines are SpectrumVote's plain-language reading of the official text above; the official text is what you vote on.
