Background
The 2026 Gahanna Charter Review Commission, a seven-member body appointed by Council and the Mayor, recommended this amendment among ten it transmitted to City Council on June 30, 2026; Council adopted the resolution placing it on the ballot on its consent agenda on July 20, 2026.
The Charter now automatically removes any Planning Commission member who misses four consecutive regular meetings, or six in any 12-month period, whether excused or not.
The amendment would delete that fixed rule and let the Planning Commission set attendance requirements in its own rules; the Commission's stated reasoning is to let the Planning Commission determine what attendance requirements would be equitable.
