- What it does
- Shall the City Charter § 3.02 be amended to prohibit a recalled council member from serving in an elected or appointed city office for three years, instead of two years as currently written?
- A YES vote means
- A recalled Forest Hill council member could not serve in an elected or appointed city office for three years, instead of two.
- A NO vote means
- A recalled Forest Hill council member would still be barred from city office for two years.
- Needed to pass
- A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
- Left–right lean
- Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).
Background
The Forest Hill City Council proposed this and three other Charter amendments, Propositions 2 through 5, in Ordinance No. 2026-16, which it passed and approved on August 4, 2026.
Charter Section 3.02 now bars a council member removed in a recall election from running for city office or holding an appointed city position for two calendar years.
Proposition 2 would extend that bar to three calendar years.
