Background

According to the informational pamphlet issued by the Maricopa County School Superintendent, the Agua Fria Union High School District Governing Board called this election to continue the existing 15% maintenance and operation budget override, last authorized by voters on November 8, 2022, for an additional seven years.

The district's statement in the pamphlet says the override continuation is not expected to increase the current tax rate and would continue funding programs such as school safety personnel, career and technical education, teacher and staff salaries, and arts, music and athletics.

The pamphlet estimates override revenue of $12,244,842 and a secondary tax rate of $0.4173 per $100 of net assessed valuation, or about $108 a year for a residence of average assessed value ($258,390 limited property value).

Put on the ballot by Agua Fria Union High School District No. 216 Governing Board (date and vote not stated in the pamphlet).
