Background

According to the Maricopa County School Superintendent's informational pamphlet, Creighton Elementary School District's governing board called this election to continue its existing 15% maintenance and operation budget override for seven years.

The district estimates the override at $5,000,000 for 2027/2028, funded by a secondary property tax of about $0.72 per $100 of net assessed value. It says that is about the same as the current override rate.

The district estimates the cost at about $204 a year for a home with a limited property value of $284,480, the district average. If the measure fails, the current override would be cut by one-third in 2028/2029 and another third in 2029/2030, and would end in 2030/2031.

The pamphlet says the override was previously approved by voters in 2014, 2018 and 2022. Arguments in favor were submitted for the pamphlet; none were submitted against.

Put on the ballot by Creighton Elementary School District No. 14 Governing Board (special budget override election call; date and vote not stated in the pamphlet).
