Background

According to the Maricopa County School Superintendent's informational pamphlet, the Gilbert Public Schools Governing Board called this $136 million bond election (Proposition 422) on April 28, 2026.

The pamphlet breaks the bond down as $65.0 million for critical facility upgrades and replacements, $33.0 million for technology infrastructure, $20.0 million for career and technical education and extracurricular spaces, $12.0 million for safety and security, and $6.0 million for buses and other vehicles.

The district says in the pamphlet that it expects to keep its total bond tax rate at about $0.85 per $100 of assessed value, the same as in 2025-26. The pamphlet's required estimate of the new bonds alone is $121.86 a year for 10 years for a home valued by the County Assessor at $250,000.

The pamphlet includes arguments both for and against the bond.

Put on the ballot by Gilbert Unified School District No. 41 Governing Board, April 28, 2026 (election call; tally not stated in the county pamphlet).
