Background
According to the informational pamphlet issued by the Maricopa County School Superintendent, the Alhambra Elementary School District seeks authority to exceed its district additional assistance budget limit by the lesser of $6,620,000 or 10% of its revenue control limit, for capital purposes, for seven years beginning in fiscal year 2027/2028.
The district's statement in the pamphlet says state District Additional Assistance funding alone does not fully cover ongoing capital needs, and that continuing the override would keep paying for capital items; the first-year plan lists classroom technology ($3,310,000), student transportation ($1,324,000) and school facilities improvements ($1,986,000).
The pamphlet estimates a secondary tax rate of $1.6043 per $100 of net assessed valuation, or about $134 a year for a residence of average assessed value ($83,250 limited property value).
