Background

According to the District's page on the election, Paradise Valley voters most recently approved a District Additional Assistance (DAA) capital override in November 2019 for $6.41 million a year; DAA overrides provide seven years of full funding and expire in the eighth year.

According to the District's statement in the County School Superintendent's informational pamphlet, approximately $43.5 million of the roughly $47 million seven-year total would go to instructional materials (textbooks, library books, e-books, workbooks, instructional hardware and software) and approximately $3.3 million to support vehicles.

The pamphlet estimates the override tax rate at $0.1334 per $100 of net assessed valuation, or about $46 a year for a home at the District's average limited value of $341,530; the District says the requested amount rises by $320,000 but it expects the tax rate to stay about the same because the tax base has grown.

The pamphlet states the District's Governing Board placed this question and a separate 15% maintenance-and-operation override continuation (Question 1) on the ballot; the board's meeting date and vote were not found in a record we could open.

Put on the ballot by Paradise Valley Unified School District No. 69 Governing Board (date and vote not found).
