Background
According to the informational pamphlet issued by the Maricopa County School Superintendent, the Union Elementary School District Governing Board called this district additional assistance override, seeking authority to exceed that budget limit by the lesser of $1,300,000 or 10% of its revenue control limit, for capital purposes, for seven years beginning in fiscal year 2027/2028.
The district's statement says the money would pay for technology updates and replacement, maintenance and improvements to existing facilities such as HVAC, curriculum resources, playgrounds and athletic fields, and furniture and equipment.
The pamphlet's tax table estimates a secondary tax rate of $0.7977 per $100 of net assessed valuation, or about $122 a year for a residence of average assessed value ($153,470 limited property value). Question 1 on the same ballot is a separate 15% maintenance and operation override continuation.
